Why not write about it? It’s my favorite show, I have unparalleled access to America’s Favorite Resident Tech, plus a real camaraderie with the impulsive and insane, and the people who love to laugh at them.

Two words: Busey.

Gary Busey likes to speak in what he calls “Buseyisms”, which are seldom-clever “backronyms” that help Busey understand the real meaning and majesty of a word, and help the rest of us understand that helmet laws are a good idea.

Never mind that many of his best and most-often repeated are likely plagiarized, it’s just… Busey! 

Is it typical VH1 stunt casting? Did they clearly concoct two very different stories to explain his presence to Dr. Drew and the Garyism himself? Yes, yes, yes, maybe and yes, probably.

But he’s such a perfect storm of Baldwin/Conaway/Patrick-from-Spongebob-Squarepants, who cares. He’s mentally deficient, but just unsympathetic enough that you don’t feel bad laughing. He’s terrifying, but you could probably escape if you distracted him with something shiny. Or yellow highlighters.

I for one can’t wait until tomorrow’s episode. I will endeavor to get my darling wife to give me a play-by-play of what was happening behind the scenes. She seems far less traumatized by watching herself this season (season 1, she could only watch on weekends, it so upset her sleep), but she’ll never be the fan that I am.
