more frequent writing; take 2

Filed under: cantankerous, trepanning mach II — ep @ 3:15 pm

I can’t call it “blogging”. I hate that word. It smacks of that pen-protector-set-that-doesn’t-think-they’re-the-pen-protector-set.

It could be just my aversion to Generation Y/Z in general. The “Dude, I Flaked” Generation. That post-PC, had sensitive new age parents generation, that’ll stand there proudly telling you “yeah it was me who chopped down your cherry tree, bro… my bad,” [pregnant pause awaiting applause for honesty], and then they think they don’t owe you a new f#$king cherry tree. Well you do, buddy; go ask your mom for some cherry tree money.

So yeah, I still plan to start writing more frequently I just won’t call it blogging. I know I’ve said that before, my bad.

I’ll let you off the hook.
Blogging has become synonymous with pimping products and driving SEO traffic into ecommerce sites for profit.

You don’t want to be a blogger. Instead you want to keep a journal. If you keep a blog, you’re inviting two-way communication and community building. You are inviting anyone that wanders by to tap on the glass of your little fish bowl, or worse. Stick their hands right in and swirl the mirk around you.

Don’t do it! Keep a journal. Write when you’ve got stories to tell, and never apologize for having a fulfilling life and not enough time to stop and write about all the living you are doing. Long gaps in your web journal will just tell your avid readers that you’re too busy living - and maybe they should leave their computers and go for a walk or something.
